Catholic Charities is deeply concerned about the current state of policies that have resulted in thousands of asylum seekers being bussed throughout the United States without proper planning.

Here in New York, asylum seekers are arriving often hungry, tired, and in need of basic items. Catholic Charities has been at the forefront of responding to this crisis-promptly, professionally, and compassionately. Those coming to our offices and parishes are receiving emergency assistance, food, basic clothing items, toiletries, as well as critical information on shelter and medical resources. Many have appointments with immigration officials in the upcoming months and our legal services staff is beginning to review their situations.

Catholic Charities is prepared to work in partnership with government officials to put in place appropriate programs and policies that address the ongoing needs of these newcomers. Your donation today goes a long way to address immediate needs and ensure their safety and wellbeing.
